Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a truly innovative and effective psychedelic treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD. By combining the use of ketamine with psychotherapy, KAP has been shown to accelerate the healing process for many chronic and severe mental health conditions.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones, to help individuals process and integrate traumatic memories and reduce the negative effects of those memories.

Somatic Intervention

Somatic intervention is a technique that enables you to recognize and break habitual patterns (such as worry, anger, stress, or fear), release the physical tension and related memories, and proceed in a more composed and tranquil manner.

What People Say About Hong:

“Hi Hong. I just wanted to drop you a note and say thank you for all your help so far. I’ve been to a few therapists but you are the best therapist I’ve ever had. I feel like I’m making progress and dealing with a lot of difficult and challenging emotions that I’ve not been able to encounter or have tried to avoid. I feel very lucky to have been able find you and work with you. I probably don’t relay that in our meetings so I wanted to send you this note. Thank you.”

S.Y., Designer & Entrepreneur, New York City

“You are the only one that has stayed with me through it all, and has not given up on me.  Allowing me to express all of my feelings. What you have given me goes beyond a job or a friend or someone who cares. There are no words.  I have my voice back.  ”

Julie,  Artist, New York City

“During therapy, I felt the gradual growth of my own strength. It made me more courageous and comfortable to face my past and current life. With Hong’s professional guidance and help, my healing process has also helped me better understand my artistic practice and given me opportunities to explore more possibilities. Frequently Asked Questions

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic, which means that I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapies in order to best meet the needs and goals of each individual client. Specifically, I use Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, and Somatic Intervention in my practice.

By combining these approaches, I aim to help you not only understand and resolve your difficulties, but also develop a new sense of self and inner connection that are needed to make lasting changes in your life.

Is Ketamine Safe?

Ketamine is a medication that has been used safely in clinical settings for over 50 years. It is commonly used as an anesthetic in surgery, and has also shown promise in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.

The risks involved in ketamine use are extremely low. Problems with addiction to ketamine have been rare in the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy setting due to its therapeutic focus.

Can EMDR Therapy help with everyday life situations as well as professional/career related issues?

Yes. EMDR therapy can help recondition the way you think, act and feel through processing upsetting experiences that have impacted your everyday life. as well as work-related challenges. It can help you find clarity with relational situations and making decisions on career directions. It can also help increase your performance level.

What are the benefits of combing EMDR with KAP?

The combination of these two therapies can give you confidence that “I can do this” when dealing with difficult materials. When we process trauma within the window of tolerance during Ketamine-Assisted EMDR Therapy, you do not have to experience every inch of your pain. You can identify it, connect with it, observing it rather than feeing it entirely. This is because you are held by a supportive therapist in a safe container, with a medicine that has a calming quality to facilitate the experience in a non-overwhelming way. This can make meaningful change.

How long does therapy usually last?

The length and frequency of therapy sessions will depend on the specific needs and goals of each individual client. Some clients may find that they are able to make progress in a shorter amount of time, while others may require a longer course of treatment.

In general, therapy sessions are typically scheduled once a week and last for 50 minutes. However, the frequency and duration of sessions may be adjusted based on the needs and preferences of the client.

Is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy effective in helping people with relationship issues?

Yes. Many people have found that KAP has helped them show up in a more calm and centered manner in their relationships. This has allowed them to have deeper conversations and better communication with their partners which  resulted in being able to face their relationship challenges together to a more meaningful and loving connection.

Can I receive EMDR therapy during Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Sessions?

Yes, you can. For example, we can discuss and identify the issues you want to target before going into the dosing session.

What is like working with Hong?
